Things in the process:
  • Adding 22 move speed bumps.  Areas have been marked.
  • Parental Awareness initiative to get started.  Per Don, need to look at the internal reporting process within the office/security/board of directors.
  • Smoking is prohibited 25 feet from the pool or a public building.  Signs have been ordered and will be placed around the pool.
Concerns:
  • Vandalism at the bathhouses
  • Yogi Bear Blvd. and Animal Road intersection - should these roads be changed to one-way roads?
  • 10 mph throughout the park - if the speed limit is 10 mph, why do golf carts have to pull over?
  • Can the committee members get access to any traffic-related incident reports or issues?
  • Suggestions/ideas for consideration:
  • Fine structure - requires a majority membership vote.  We can do a mail-out and according to State code, the only requirement to pass a fine structure is a 2/3 majority vote in favor of all responders.  It does not require a 2/3 majority vote of all paid members only those who respond.
  • Set up a roving minibike checkpoint.  Need to establish dates on which this will occur along with identifying who is qualified to inspect the minibikes.
  • Purchase/lease a movable "this is your speed sign."  Need to identify cost or is this something the Sheriff would be able to provide on a weekend?
  • Purchase/lease a speed gun.
  • Using the barcode on our badges as a way to access the pool and bathhouses.  Visitors could be issued a plastic card when they enter the park and return it when they exit the park.  Will need a way to track the issuance and return of these cards.
  • Safety vests for committee members to assist with traffic checkpoints.
Next steps:
  • Set up meeting dates through the end of the season.  Do we need to meet after the season or prior to the next season? (will not be at the river this coming weekend)
  • Prioritize what we will work on and accomplish this season.  (In the words of Don, don't take on too much at one time.)
