Good Day all!!
This is the time of the year when we look at our previous years expenses and estimate what our next years will be. One of our largest expenses is electric, if we all work together to conserve, we can do each other a great service. Some recommendations to conserve are listed below;
lights/light bulbs;
you can actually purchase "great Value 14 watt Fluorescent bulbs that are equivalent to 60 watt standard bulbs and are "instant on" for a $1.00 (4 bulbs) (Walmart). estimated yearly cost is $1.69 per bulb based on .11 cents per kwh and average of 3 hrs. per day per bulb. (can you imagine how much we could save if we all went out and replaced our lights?? it would be huge) Unnecessary and or over abundance of outside decorative lights should also be kept in mind as to another way conserve energy.
Refrigerators;
If you have more than one refrigerator, if you condense all your item's into one and unplug any additional ones, prior to packing up and heading home, this would be a great help.
Air Conditioners;
Most air conditioners have thermostats, I think when its really hot out, we find ourselves turning them all the way back where they run constant. If we set those thermostats up a few notches where its tolerable,(70 degrees) again a considerable savings.
When we leave camp, please make sure all air conditioners are turned off and all lights are turned out.
Thanks for your anticipated help in assuring that we all do our part in helping to conserve energy.
Our last electric bill was $65,000.00 for 1 month.
