Maintenance Update
Posted on Sep 3rd, 2015
We would like to thank Bryant Cosner for his 8 plus years of service to RBMC. Bryant has decided to move on and has started his own business. We take this opportunity to wish him well and thank him for his many years of service for all he has done.
Please join us in congratulating Chris Miller on his recent promotion to "Maintenance Supervisor ". Chris has been with RBMC for 3 plus years and has been the "go to" person when Bryant was out. We feel confident that as we go forward, Chris will be a great asset to RBMC and has already demonstrated the leadership skills necessary to perform his new responsibilities both in the critical and non critical areas of this position in an effective, efficient and professional manner all while promoting teamwork.
A word from Chris:
I would like to first start by thanking you to the membership, for giving not only myself the opportunity to serve you, but my co-workers as well. While I realize River Bend is unique from the aspect that each year, there are new board members voted in by the membership, that may bring challenges, I want you to know that I am and always will be receptive to new idea's that bring about change for the betterment of your park. I look forward to working with all of you for many years to come. As I look at some of the newsletters, I've noticed some of the updates over the recent months, it is my intention to follow suit and provide frequent updates as well from the maintenance department.
As I take on the increased responsibility as Maintenance Supervisor, i.e. scheduling, supply ordering, inventory, budgeting, work orders, leadership, etc., I have reached out to my team mates and have asked for their opinions on things they have experienced in the past and any ideas that they may have that will ultimately help us serve the membership better. I also ask if they thought there was anything the members could do and here are a few idea's that we have come up with:
Be watchful of your surroundings and report suspicious behaviors either to the office or to security. Some of the most recent things that we have had to expend our resources throughout the park was for vandalism. Specifically, Saturday night several stop signs had been completely uprooted (6 plus). It took two men a few hours to reinstall those signs, this occurred around the area of the boat dock where the block party was held. When special events throughout the park are scheduled, we try and make sure that we give those areas special attention to help insure those events are successful by mowing and policing the common areas. We do our best to make them presentable for your guests. The removal of those signs was disrespectful to the entire membership. The cost associated must be borne by you, the membership. Also, the maintenance team could have been doing other necessary work.
Another area of concern are the bath houses, while the vandalism has somewhat subsided. Please refrain from throwing anything other than the supplied toilet paper in the commodes such as rags, wet wipes, grease, rolls of toilet paper, feminine products, paper towels, etc. These items clogs the pipes and in some cases has required extensive repairs to the pumps which have cost you the membership, again an unnecessary expense. If it didn't pass thru you it has no place in our toilets.
Some of the preparations we are taking to help insure a smooth and enjoyable holiday this weekend are as follows:
- Extra dumpster's to compensate for additional trash and increased policing of the compacter area to prevent any delay in the disposal of your trash. Please refrain from washing your golf carts in this area.
- We are making sure all common grounds are well groomed for a neat and clean appearance for your guests.
- We will be assisting the vendors with hook ups and any additional assistance needed to help insure a smooth startup for Sundays car show.
- We have been inspecting and replacing lights throughout the park, and will be helping any way we can.
- I have several employees and vendors on call for emergencies that may occur throughout the weekend (electric outages, plumbing issues, etc.).
Last but not least, if you have any issues from a maintenance prospective or any recommendations on how we may better serve you, please present those ideas or work orders to the office....thanks again. I look forward to working with everyone.
On behalf of the maintenance department, we would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and enjoyable holiday weekend!
Thank you,
Chris Miller
